WOODFIELD STATION ON SILVER
HERNDON, VA Woodfield Dulles Station is a 400 unit apartment project located near Washington Dulles International Airport in suburban Herndon, VA. The project, located two blocks from a future Metro subway station, is unique, not only in its modern architecture, but also the mix of construction types it employs. While the project is a wood frame "wrap" around a precast parking garage, it also boasts a full post-tensioned concrete podium at the second floor that allowed another full story of units beneath the primary structure. This allows for intense density, all accomplished using Type IIIA fire retardent treated wood framing above and metal studs below the podium. |
